Stone Columns

Stone columns also known as aggregate piers are well suited for the improvement of soft or loose soils as they create vertical inclusions with high stiffness, shear strength and draining characteristics. Stone Columns are constructed in following steps:

Penetration:

Vibroflot penetrates in the ground with high pressure water jet.

Compaction:

Induced eccentric forces compact the stone layer wise.

Stone filling:

Stone are backfilled in layers within the annular space

Completion:

The improved area is levelled and compacted with roller

Dynamic Compaction

Dynamic compaction is a ground improvement technique that densifies soils and fill materials by using a drop weight. The ground is subjected to repeated surface tamping using a heavy steel and concrete weight. Typically the tamper weighs between 10 and 12 tonnes, dropping in free fall from heights of up to 10 metres.

Rapid Impact Compaction

This densifies shallow, granular soils, using a hydraulic hammer, which repeatedly strikes an impact plate on the ground surface.

Deep Soil Mixing

Is one of the practical methods of ground improvement technique which produces cement soil columns and modification of soil characteristics by injecting stabilizing materials such as cement or lime using a mechanically hollow drill in the soil.

Jet Grouting

Jet Grouting creates in-situ columns of grouted soil using very high pressure grout injection. Grouting is performed by pumping high velocity jets of grout (or sometimes grout and air or grout, water and air) through the side of a grout monitor, attached at the end of the drill string.

The jets erode and mix the soil as the drill string and the monitor are being rotated and withdrawn.It is best practice to perform a pre-construction test program to calibrate, adjust and verify jet grout parameters and the design.
